Otters

TJ and I were watching an Animal Planet feature on an orphan otter and how a group of experts taught the otter to survive on its own. I told TJ that during their sleep, otters hold their partner’s hand so that they don’t drift apart.

I quickly held his hand and said, “You are my otter half.”

Late Night Reads

Once in a while, especially on nights like this one, I stumble upon essays that try to capture what it is to be heartbroken, happy, bored, horny — alive — in 2011. Okay, mostly on ThoughtCatalog. And sometimes, I say to myself, “I can write something like this,” or sometimes, “I can write this better.”

And one of these days, I will.. when sleep stops getting the best of me.

Past 2 AM

It’s been a while since I got home past 2 a.m. and a bit drunk. When I opened the gate for TJ’s car, I smelled flowers. One of my favorite lines of all time is from one of my favorite movies of all time, “God is in the rain.”

And even if I am Agnostic, it felt like God was in the flowers.
